Conversation. Especially literature and language, education, football and baseball, movies, history, then and now, birds, two-lane roads. "Banjo" is a fun word, and the instrument can make fine music. But this isn't really a blog about banjos, except in the metaphorical sense of interesting sounds riding across a valley from one porch to another. Click on any photo to enlarge. I'm having a Lawrence Welk moment
PA, good! I'll feel less silly if it's shared. btw, I almost posted the YouTube clip of the Lennon Sisters doing Mockingbird, but I think the song belongs to Patti, for better or worse.
Why are you doing this to us? Was it something we said?
(That top photo is uber cool.)
AH, thank you. No, nothing you said. If you must know (and let's be honest, I'm eager to tell) . . .
I came across that top photo and immodestly loved it all over again. That got my eyes and mind on the mockingbird. And mockery. And what's happening in economics and politics.
Then I came across Doc's (Tom Paxton's) famous and excellent song of farewell; I thought (melodramatically, I hope) of farewells to life savings. And from there to how ironically--even sarcastically--one could hear Pattie's song.
And from there to the arguably evil eye of "my" mockingbird in the photo.
Any more questions? Welcome to BanjoBrain. I live here, and it's a marathon every day!
